International Yoga Day
June 21 marks International Yoga Day. Do not miss this pride of India celebrated all over the world now. This new day is marked with UN approval making it an international holiday. There are going to be many programs and events to mark this day.
On June 19, yoga guru Ramdev will do a special session at Rajpath. It is expected that nearly 27,000 people will take part in this yoga session.
On June 21, a special programme is planned at Central Park, Connaught Place, and its radial roads. It is expected that nearly 10,000 people which includes diplomats, paramilitary personnel and Delhi Police personnel, are expected to gather at Central Park for the event.
That is not all, 100 resident welfare associations will also organize yoga sessions in their localities. In New Delhi, the DDA has set up yoga meets at Rohini and Dwarka. Another event is also being set up by the education department at Chhatrasal Stadium.
On June 22-23, there will be an International Conference on Yoga at Vigyan Bhavan. This event is also to be a huge event with expectations of around 3,000 delegates to attend it. The International Yoga Day is a celebration of the principle of ‘healthy body, healthy mind’. It is expected to improve health consciousness among people.
That is not all, the Vice-Chancellor of Jamia Millia Islamia announced that the university is also organizing a meet on June 21 which is expected to receive about 600 students.
JNU is also set to organize yoga workshops and conduct special lecture series on campus for students and staff.
If that is not enough, there are also events planned on June 20-21 by DU. Even IGNOU is planning to organize lectures on yoga and pranayam across its regional centres. Ambedkar University on the other hand is planning to launch a week-long exhibition on yoga from June 21.
