Essay Writing Contest on Thiruvalluvar | Fusion - WeRIndia

Union HRD minister, Smriti Irani, said that an online essay writing contest will be held to encourage students to learn the life and poetic works of saint Thiruvalluvar. This contest is expected to be held in mid-January. Center has already requested CBSE to conduct this essay writing contest as they feel it is important for students to learn about the works of the Saint.

When asked about whether the works of the saint would be included in the syllabus and books of NCERT, Irani stated that such works could be incorporated into curriculum after the formation of the new education policy.

She has further stated that center is planning this new educational policy for all states. The policy is under discussion and it is expected that the rich culture of each state may become a part in the curriculum. The minister has added that she hopes such initiatives would become part of the national educational policy. It is stated the essay writing competition would be scheduled in 22 languages across the country.
