Adopt Habits That Will Make You Smarter
Smart people are a dime a dozen. What matters is the ability to think different… to think out of the box.
To become smarter, you have to create habits that will groom your intelligence and nourish your mind. smart people do daily rituals to maintain their smartness.
Push yourself to become more productive. Being busy and being productive are two different things.
The future is going to require really smart people. What we think are crises today probably will be no big deal, and we have no idea what will really be crises in the future.
Adopt these habits that will make you smarter and more productive:
Read as much as you can
Make reading a habit–serious reading, not celebrity gossip and lists on the web. Even if it’s just part of a chapter each day, stick to your reading schedule you will find new things daily.
Check out apps like Flipboard and Longform which collect stories from around the globe that you can tailor to your interests. Don’t just read the same old news sites.
Reading an article you disagree with can potentially expand your mind, and help you come to a realization that changes your life. Even spending time reading for pleasure will keep your mind active and moving forward.
Spend time with Smart people
Hang out with people who are smarter than you. Always be humble and willing to learn. Smart people have interesting things to talk about. They know how to expand their mind and feed their brain, so spending time with them is good for you on multiple levels. Ask as many questions as possible.
If you are always around people who are more knowledgeable than you, you’ll have no choice but to learn more. So, spend as much time as you can with smart people. It is really wonderful to work in an environment with a lot of smart people.
Read the newspaper
It will help you become more aware of the important things happening around the world also will help to increase your general knowledge. It also introduces you to unfamiliar cultures and events that you don’t normally hear about.
You’ll learn to form your own opinions and connect the dots between seemingly unrelated things.
Observe things
Observe things happening around you. When you’re busy all the time throwing yourself into action, you don’t have the time to think. Take a few moments everyday to just sit there, think, and observe all the things around you as they happen.
Sit at a coffee shop or a library, and just watch around you. You’ll start to notice trends in people’s behaviors.
Share what you learn
If you find someone to debate and analyze ideas with, you can add to each other’s knowledge and gain new perspectives. Also, when you can explain ideas to someone else, it means you’ve definitely mastered the concept . You can even share what you learn without directly talking to someone.
Share your thoughts in oral or writing as you feel comfortable. So many successful people write everyday – whether it’s a diary they keep or a blog they write. Writing things down forces you to clarify your thoughts into more concrete representations.
It takes a lot of effort. But over time, it’ll become easier, and you start to notice that your thoughts become more crispy. You’ll also have fewer doubts about your own thoughts.
Explore new areas
If you can’t travel every day, at least try to find something new within your hometown. Meet with different people, learn new facts, and understand something new about the world.
It’s a lot more productive than staying at home and watching TV. Find out new things out of your interest also to know about them deeply.
Play “smart” games
Play the games that challenges you. Try crossword puzzles, Sudoku, board games, or even video games in lieu of reruns of your favorite TV show, play Scrabble without a dictionary, chess, Lifehack recommends & expand your mind.
Challenge yourself when you play them. By keeping your mind continually working you are increasing your logical thought and problem solving processes, which can impact almost every aspect of your life for the better.
Adopt a productive hobby
If you have something you can work on every day, from knitting to fly fishing, you can actively learn more just from doing. For instance, you may try to play a new piece of music every day, read a physics textbook, write a few more pages in your novel, or learn a new computer skill.
The sign of an intelligent people is their ability to control their emotions by the application of reason. Trust the people who work with you and hire, but also listen to as many smart people as you can.
