Ola to launch electric scooter on August 15
Ola decided to launch its electric scooter on August 15, on the occasion of India’s Independence day. It is the 75th Independence Day of the country.
Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal announced on Twitter stating that the company would launch its electric scooter on the eve of India’s Independence Day.
He also said that all other details, full specifications, on-sale and delivery dates would be shared on the launching date.
Last month, Ola Electric initiated the booking process for its upcoming scooter. It received nearly 1 lakh bookings within 24 hours.
Ola Electric scooter will be manufactured at its factory in Tamil Nadu for the world. The company can manufacture around 10 million vehicles there. The first phase of its two-wheeler factory is almost completed. The company will start its operations there soon. However, it will take another year to complete its full capacity.
The company says that the scooter would have good speed, boot space and range. Ola Electric scooter will have banana-shaped batteries. Its battery capacity will be nearly 3.6 kWh. It is one of the highest capacities available for any electric two-wheeler selling in the country at present.
Its range is expected to be around 180 to 190 kilometres. As per market analysts, the company may offer a lower-spec model with a lower range at a lower price for price-sensitive customers.
Though the acceleration of the Ola scooter has not been declared, it may be at par with or more than its rivals. At present, Ather 450X is the quickest-accelerating e-scooter on sale in India. Its acceleration is 0-40 kph in 3.3 seconds and 0-60 kph in 6.5 seconds.
Ola Electric will have fixed charging stations in around 100 cities across the country initially. The company wants to improve the number to 400 cities. Price may range anywhere between ₹80,000 and ₹1 lakh.
