Things to know about Common Eligibility Test
The Union Cabinet approved to set up a National Recruitment Agency (NRA) to conduct Common Eligibility Test (CET) for recruiting to various posts in the Central government and public sector banks.
In this context, here are few things to know about Common Eligibility Test (CET):
- CET is a single online test conducted to screen candidates at the first level for different boards like SSC, RRB, and IBPS.
- A separate CET each will be conducted for the three levels of graduate, 12th and 10th passed candidates.
- The CET scores will be valid for three years and the validity will be calculated from the date of result.
- A candidate can improve his/her score by appearing the exam for two more times. The best outcome of the three will be considered for recruitment.
- There is no restriction on the number of attempts by a candidate. However, the upper age limit is taken into account. Relaxation of upper age limit for various categories is as per the existing terms and policies of the government.
- Candidates can schedule their tests and exam centres. Each district will have a CET exam centre to improve access to candidates who are residing in remote areas. Thus, this test aims to help rural candidates.
- A single examination would help poor candidates save examination fees for multiple exams. It also saves travelling and boarding expenses.
- CET will be available in multiple languages. Hence, it provides an equal opportunity for many people to be selected.
- This test also helps reduce the recruitment cycle. At present, multiple-level tests are conducted for various jobs. However, with CET, the recruitment process will be shortened. Thus, it saves time.
- Currently, many women face constraints appearing in different examinations, especially finding suitable persons to accompany them when they are going to distant places. This test helps them by saving money and time.
