Hyderabad NGOs perform last rites for COVID-19 victims
Huge stigma is associated with COVID-19. People are treating the patients without compassion. Hence, several people are not disclosing the fact that even after their infection with it.
And if the patients have died of coronavirus, their family members and relatives have a lot of trouble performing the last rites. There were several instances where people hindered the funerals and last rites of COVID-19 victims.
In this context, two Hyderabad NGOs came forward to their rescue. Helping Hand Foundation offers its services to handle funerals and last rites. People who died of other diseases can also use their services.
It is not a free service to all. The NGO charges ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 as per the distance. However, this is not much considering the service they are providing. Besides, the NGO uses the amount for PPEs, masks, disinfectants, sanitizers, fuel, and the salary of the ambulance driver.
Economically weaker sections can avail their service for free. It has six ambulances dedicated to transporting the dead bodies from hospital to home or the graveyard. They work round the clock.
The NGO has tied up with other NGOs, groups and funeral service providers to offer last rites at concessional rates for underprivileged people.

Amoomat Society is another NGO based in Hyderabad, offers final rites to the victims of COVID-19. It also offers burial services. There are 65 volunteers to work for the NGO with all protective measures.
The family members of the deceased will also be provided with PPE kits. The NGO also supplies dry ration to the people in need, with the support of like-minded people. The final rite service is available 24×7 in Hyderabad. One can contact at 903081977 or 7680037677 to avail their service.
