Officials overturn boy’s egg cart and help pours in
A 13-year-old boy, Paras was selling eggs on a cart keeping it on the road in Indore. The Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) officials warned him for putting his cart on the road.
As per COVID-19 protocols, street hawkers are not allowed to halt at one place to avoid crowing. They should sell their products by moving.
Hence, the authorities issued a challan for ₹100 but the boy could not pay the money.
It is also alleged that the authorities asked him to pay a bribe. But he doesn’t have money to pay.
Then the officials allegedly overturned his cart and smashed four cartons of eggs on the floor. As a result, eggs worth ₹8,000 were broken.
The boy stood in tears. A man, Vikas Rao, shot the video and uploaded on social media.
The whole incident went viral on social media. Netizens criticized the behaviour of IMC officials.
Several locals and political leaders offered help to the boy. Many local people gave him thousands of rupees in cash. They also helped him to buy a stall and eggs.
Congress leader Digvijaya Singh sent ₹10,000 to the boy as compensation and assured to take care of his education.
BJP MLA Ramesh Mendola gave him a bicycle along with ₹2,500. He also sent four pairs of clothes to the boy. He assured to provide a house to the family under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Indore Press Club president Arvind Tiwari and few others provided monetary assistance.
The boy has a brother, Neelesh. Both Paras and Neelesh studied till Class 6, but later discontinued their studies due to their poor financial background.
So far, they received ₹50,000. The grandfather of the boys said that he would deposit the money in the bank.
