CODE19 online hackathon winners announced
Two engineering students from Kerala won the first prize of $10,000 at the CODE19 online hackathon by designing a virtual classroom.
Abhinand C and Shilpa Rajeev are the students of Government College of Engineering, Kannur in Kerala. They bagged the first prize in this online hackathon.
They won this prize for their virtual classroom design, iClassroomfor millennials.
iClassroom is a modern virtual classroom that connects students with teachers through a social media-type interface.
This classroom allows the interaction of teachers and students to conduct online classes and clear the doubts of the students.
iClassromm is a dedicated platform for students to learn continuously. All learning communities can interact with each other through this and keep track of their progress without using multiple communication tools.
The CODE19 online hackathon is a 72-hour hackathon organized by Silicon Valley-based Motwani Jadeja Family Foundation to find solutions to COVID-19 challenges.
Many people participated in the event and the Kerala students won the first prize. The second prize of $5,000 was won by six students of Manipal Institute of Technology for facilitating remote diagnosis of COVID-19 patients to reduce risk of infection for healthcare workers. Their solution TeleVital helps capture vital statistics of patients through a Webcam and browser.
The third prize was divided into three categories. Each of the three teams was awarded $3,000 as prize money. The winning entries included SoloCoin, the Covid19 Fact Checker and the Grape Community.
SoloCoin allows people to earn virtual currency for maintaining social distance and staying at home. These coins can be redeemed at various merchants.
The Covid19 Fact Checker helps identify fake news and provides authentic information.
The Grape Community helps connect people with their neighbourhood shopkeepers and suppliers to get essential supplies. This is an open platform.
Besides, 10 best innovative solutions were awarded $1,000 each at the hackathon.
