Things to know about Delhi Assembly Election Exit polls | Fusion - WeRIndia

Delhi Assembly elections were conducted on February 8.

As soon as the elections finished, exit polls were conducted and almost all exit polls predicted the landslide victory for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

In this context, here are certain things to know about the exit polls of Delhi Assembly elections:

• Many exit polls had underestimated the AAP in the past elections in 2013 and 2015.
• They predicted the majority for BJP. However, AAP won 28 out of 70 seats in its debut elections in 2013. Only the predictions of Chanakya became true as their exit polls predicted 31 seats for AAP.
• In 2015, all exit polls predicted around 35 to 45 seats for AAP whereas AAP had won 67 out of 70 seats.
• Besides the elections in Delhi, there are numerous instances where exit polls had predicted incorrectly.
• The exit poll predictions for the Delhi Assembly elections are as follows: ABP-C-Voter predicted 49-63 seats for AAP, while the India Today-Axis poll predicted 59-68 seats.
• The Times Now exit poll forecasted 47 seats, the Republic-Jan ki Baat survey predicted 48-61 seats and the TV9 Bharatvarsh-Cicero predicted 52-64 seats for the AAP.
• Similarly, ABP predicted 49-63 seats, Neta-NewsX projected 53-57 and Zee Maha exit poll forecasted 55 seats for the AAP.
• While Axis and Neta-NewsX projected around 11 seats for BJP, TV9, ABP, and Republic TV predicted around 17-21 seats for it.
• Almost all exit polls predicted 1-2 seats for the Congress party.
• While AAP is happy with the exit poll predictions, BJP denied the polls saying that these are not exact polls.
• BJP’s Delhi unit chief Manoj Tiwari said the BJP would win comfortably and form a government in Delhi with 48 seats.
