Cucumbertown – Social Network for Cooks
Cucumbertown acts as an online social network for cooks and chefs. It was founded by Cherian Thomas, Chris Luscher, Arun Prabhakar and Dan Hauk and is based out of California, USA. Cucumbertown is a special network for cooks and chefs share and browse culinary knowledge. Users can post their recipes or browse recipes that were posted by others. The web platform makes it easy to post recipes compared to traditional blogging platforms like WordPress or Tumblr.
Users can even write variations on existing recipe’s page. The website which was launched in 2012 now has a huge library of mouthwatering recipes. The website consists of mostly food enthusiasts from various parts of the world. The name of the website Cucumbertown came from Vellarikka Pattanam which is a mythical town in the Malyalam language.
Most of the founders of the website have not met each other face to face till the launch of the website. In 2012, Cucumbertown was angel funded to the extent of $300,000 by investors like Naval Ravikant of AngelList, Paul Singh of 500 startups Farmville Co-creator Sizhao Zao Yang, founder of MightyText Maneesh Arora, early Google product guy Richard Chen and Sonique Player co-creator Tabreez Varjee.
