Flowers have a great significance in India. They are widely used in festivals, marriages and other special occasions.

In India, several devotees offer flowers to deities to receive their blessings.

Here is a list of nine auspicious flowers to be offered to Goddess Durga during Navratri festival:

  • Hibiscus is believed to be pious and offered to Goddess Shailputri on the first day for happiness.
  • Chrysanthemums are offered to Goddess Brahmacharini on the second day for strength and confidence.
  • Lotus is offered to Goddess Chandraghanta on the third day to be relieved from negativity.
  • Jasmine invokes all five senses. Hence, it is offered to Goddess Kushmanda on the fourth day.
  • Yellow rose is believed to strengthen relationship with children. So, this flower is offered to Goddess Skandamata on the fifth day.
  • Marigold represents the auspiciousness of the festival. Since it is extensively available in India, it has a great significance in Indian festivals. That’s why Marigold flowers are offered on the sixth day. Moreover, they are considered as a favorite of Goddess Katyayni devi.
  • Passiflora is offered to Goddess Kaalratri on the seventh day as the flower symbolizes silence.
  • Arabian jasmine is believed to be the favorite flower to not just Goddess Gauri, but also Lord Shiva and Vishnu. Hence, this flower is offered to the Goddess on the eighth day.
  • Champa flowers are offered to Goddess Siddhidatri on the ninth day due to their auspiciousness.
  • While offering flowers, there are certain points to be noted.
  • Don’t smell the flower that you want to offer to the Goddess.
  • Don’t offer mutilated flowers.
  • Offer one flower or in multiples of 9.
  • If you are offering one flower, offer a fully blossomed one.
