Arun Jaitley suffering with serious kidney issues
Arun Jaitley, the Minister of Finance, is currently suffering from a severe kidney ailment.
Doctors have confirmed that Jaitley’s ailment is indeed kidney-related. He has not been hospitalized yet.
However, he has been advised to avoid going out in public, so that he can remain safe from any infections. Ever since Monday, Jaitley has not been attending office.
He even skipped taking his oath of office after he was reelected as the leader of the Rajya Sabha.
Jaitley is one of only three of the 58 newly-elected Members of Parliament (MPs) who have not yet taken their oaths after April 3rd.
However, although Jaitley has not been attending office, sources have said that he is clearing files from his residence.
Doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are attending to him there. They have not yet decided whether he requires a kidney transplant or not.
Jaitley may be admitted to the Cadrio-Neuro Tower at the AIIMS.
The center has state of the art equipment, and it is housed in a separate building.
Jaitley suffers from chronic diabetes, and he has already had to undergo heart surgery several years ago. Given the current severity of his ailment, he may have to undergo surgery again.
Due to the seriousness of Jaitley’s condition, all of his domestic public appearances and foreign visits in the near future are being canceled.
He was supposed to visit London next week to attend the 10th UK-India Economic and Financial Dialogue.
Jaitley was also supposed to deliver a talk at Chatham House on April 12th called “Looking Ahead to 2022: India’s Global Vision”.
Both of these appointments have been canceled. However, he will not need to be present for the Budget to be taken up by the Rajya Sabha.
It has already been listed to be taken up by the Rajya Sabha before the current session of Parliament ends.
People hope that Jaitley will soon have a speedy recovery, since he is such a vital member of the Indian government.
