No changes in Railway Facilities: Ministry
There have been many reports since a long time about the new rules and facilities of the Railways regarding tickets, refund policies etc. Finally Railways put an end to all these reports stating that all these are baseless and there are no proposals from it at present on these issues.
Railway Ministry issued a clarification saying that there will be no changes in Railway facilities from July 1. In a statement, the ministry gave clarification on the changes in rules and facilities in several reports. The ministry stated that all these reports are baseless on the issues related to Tatkal tickets, waitlisted tickets and other such services.
Railways has been selling wait-listed tickets via online and PRS counters and there will be no change in these. Suvidha class of trains will run continuously and the waitlisted ticket in these trains will also be available, if needed. Partial refund provision is available since the beginning of the scheme. The refund rules that were notified in November 2015 will be continued.
Passengers that book tickets online can travel with their SMS along with permitted proof of identity. Earlier, the booking time for Tatkal Tickets was changed. Tickets for AC classes can be booked at 10:00 AM and tickets for Non-AC classes at 11:00 AM one day prior to the date of journey exclude the date of journey. The statement said that there is no change in these timings.
No new scheme is proposed to book in trains or coaches. There will be no change in the refund policies and rules of the Tatkal tickets. At present, no refund is allowed if the passengers cancel the confirmed Tatkal ticket or duplicate Tatkal ticket.
The destination alert facility on the helpline number 139 will be continued. Furthermore, a free destination alert service launched in some Rajdhani and Shatabdi trains on a pilot basis for train arrivals will be continued. New railway time table will be introduced by the Railways in the month of October, 2016.
