Unnati offers vocational training programme to students under poverty line at subsidised cost. So far, more than 4000 students are trained and employed in renowned companies by Unnati.
The motto of Unnati is ‘learn, earn, and stand tall’. Focusing on economically backward students, Unnati is aimed to make them engage in a profitable job and transform them into good citizens for the sake of India.
The training programme at Unnati is open to all citizens without any discrimination on caste, religion and gender. Not only training but also accommodation and food are also offered to students at nominal charges. In the trained youth, more than 40% are women.
The youth who are trained at Unnati are succeeding in every pace of their life and climbing the ladder faster than their counterparts. Even their pay scales are also rising in a significant way due to their skills.
Unnati center is in Bangalore and at par to an IIT or an IIM. It was designed by Sanjay Mohe of Mindspace. The structural engineer of this center was Radhakrishna of Specs.
Unnati practices good standards in providing training to poor youth. The stimulating environment, experimental learning and complete care for their needs help youth to get complete training.
Unnati is an initiative of the Sree Guruvayurappan Bhajan Samaj Trust (SGBS). SGBS was founded in 1978. It is one of the leading trusts in delivering best cultural and art programmes to the common public in Bangalore.
Unnati has several trustees. Ramesh Swamy, one of the chief Trustees of Unnati was invited recently by the Federal Government of Germany to participate as a guest in their visitors program to highlight the German Dual Education System. It is a great honour to India since he is the only Indian in the total group of representatives from 15 countries around the globe. The program has profound vision as it would be perceived and envisioned in a unique way. All the participants in this programme exchanged their views on vocational training and as a result there are great insights and valuable inputs to extend it further.
