From scrap to impact: The Rescript Revolution

In a world dominated by convenience and consumption, Rescript presents a refreshing and purpose-driven alternative.

Founded by childhood friends Naren Raj and Ashutosh Ananth, this Bengaluru-based startup is redefining how India perceives paper, not merely as a product, but as a symbol of responsibility.

Initially intrigued by sustainability, the duo explored multiple ideas before discovering plantable stationery.

Although this sparked their journey, it was the overlooked utility of copier paper that became their game-changing insight.

Consequently, in 2021, they launched Rescript with a singular focus: recycled copier paper. Unlike traditional products, their innovation lies not only in recycling but also in reengineering.

Older recycled paper was often coarse and printer-unfriendly. However, Rescript developed a proprietary blend that optimises water and paper pulp, making their paper smooth, durable, and compatible with modern machines.

Moreover, their commitment to authenticity is evident; they refuse to use bleaching agents, embracing the paper’s natural tone as a badge of sustainability.

This thoughtful design extends into their production process, which relies on a contract manufacturing model, keeping operations agile and resource-efficient.

The startup’s meticulous quality checks, combined with FSC certification, ensure that every sheet contributes positively to the planet.

As their product range grew to include notebooks, journals, and pens made from recycled materials, so did their impact.

With over 500 tonnes of paper recycled and more than 9,200 trees saved, their journey proves that environmental consciousness and business success can go hand in hand.

Additionally, their partnerships with major corporations and schools further reflect their broad appeal.

By integrating sustainability into daily habits, Rescript encourages users to make informed, impactful choices.

Thus, what began in a spare room has transformed into a movement, one that sees potential in scrap and value in ethics.

Through a hands-on, transparent approach, Rescript is not just selling stationery; they are scripting a better future, one page at a time.
