Heightened security in Delhi due to Farmers’ March to Parliament
Farmers across Uttar Pradesh are mobilizing to the Parliament complex on Monday, advocating for their longstanding demands.
This mass demonstration has prompted increased security measures and significant traffic diversions in the Delhi-NCR region.
The Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP), led by Sukhbir Khalifa, announced the march, which begins at 12 pm near the Mahamaya Flyover.
Farmers from 20 districts, including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Agra, are expected to participate, travelling on foot and by tractor.
Fair compensation and benefits under revised agricultural laws are central to farmers’ demands.
These include a 10% plot allocation and a 64.7% compensation hike under the old acquisition policy.
Farmers also seek four times the market rate for acquired land, employment opportunities for landless farmers’ children, and proper resettlement of populated areas.
They demand government action on resolutions passed by the High Power Committee.
Security has been reinforced at the Noida-Delhi borders, including the Chilla and DND checkpoints.
Police Commissioner Shivhari Meena confirmed a strong deployment of personnel and barriers along key routes like the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
Multiple checkpoints aim to ensure order during the march. Extensive traffic diversions are in place to minimize disruptions.
Vehicles travelling from Chilla Border to Greater Noida will be rerouted via Sector 14A Flyover.
Traffic from DND to Delhi will use the Film City Flyover, while commuters from Kalindi Border will pass through Mahamaya Flyover and Sector 37.
Traffic will divert via Kalindi Kunj or Dadri and Dasna for routes from Greater Noida to Delhi.
Goods vehicles are barred from using routes connecting Yamuna Expressway to Delhi through Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Pari Chowk.
Farmers previously protested at Greater Noida and Yamuna Authority sites before deciding on this march.
Simultaneously, other groups, including Kisan Mazdoor Morcha and Samyukt Kisan Morcha, are organizing marches starting December 6 to demand a guaranteed Minimum Support Price.
With their demands clear and determination strong, the farmers’ march is set to be a pivotal moment in their ongoing struggle for justice.
