Haryana now features 40 entries, while Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan record 36 and 28 respectively.
New entrants like Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chandigarh, Jharkhand, and Uttarakhand indicate that wealth creation is spreading to non-traditional regions.
Karnataka, powered by Bengaluru’s IT and start-up boom, ranks sixth with 108 wealthy individuals, up from 72 in 2020.
Similarly, Telangana’s entries have doubled, reaching 109 in 2024, reflecting Hyderabad’s growth as a technology and innovation hub.
Tamil Nadu, with its robust manufacturing base, increased its wealthy count to 119 from 65 in 2020, while West Bengal saw its entries more than double, rising from 32 in 2020 to 70 in 2024.
Gujarat takes third place with 129 entries, more than doubling its 2020 count of 60.
Renowned for its thriving industries in diamonds, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals, the state continues to nurture India’s wealthiest families. Meanwhile, Delhi retains its second spot, with 213 entries in 2024, a steep rise from 128 in 2020.
This growth highlights the capital city’s role as a magnet for high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurial ventures.
Maharashtra remains unmatched, hosting 470 of the richest Indians, nearly doubling from 248 in 2020.
Mumbai, the state’s financial epicentre, continues to attract wealth through its dynamic business environment and opportunities in finance, entertainment, and trade.
This diverse distribution underscores India’s economic development, with wealth creation spreading to newer regions.
While Maharashtra, Delhi, and Gujarat dominate the rankings, emerging states are rapidly making their mark.
Interestingly, despite the shifting numbers, the top three names in the rich list have remained consistent since 2020, emphasizing the enduring wealth of India’s financial titans.
