Babynama transforms paediatric care with instant digital support

Witnessing the struggles of parents in accessing timely paediatric care, Dr Sumitra Meena founded Babynama, a digital paediatric care platform, in 2022.

During her residency, Dr Sumitra often saw parents either arriving late, worsening their child’s condition, or coming in overly anxious.

Having grown up in a rural village in Rajasthan with limited access to healthcare, she personally understood these challenges.

Inspired to make a difference, Dr Sumitra, with her husband and co-founder Ashish Meena—a seasoned IIT Bombay graduate—created Babynama to bridge the gap in child healthcare.

In just two years, Babynama has provided crucial support to nearly two lakh parents, helping them identify early signs of conditions like epilepsy, autism, and ADHD.

Dr Sumitra’s vision took root in her own childhood tragedy; her sister passed away hours after birth due to lack of immediate medical care.

Determined to help others avoid similar heartbreak, she pursued a career in medicine, completing her MBBS and MD in Pediatrics from Lady Hardinge Medical College and senior residency at Safdarjung Hospital.

Babynama began as a free WhatsApp group managed by Dr Sumitra, quickly growing through word of mouth.

Initially, she provided 24/7 support herself, answering countless parent queries about child health, especially newborn care.

As demand surged, Babynama evolved to offer programs addressing breastfeeding, nutrition, and sleep with expert guidance from lactation consultants, nutritionists, and sleep specialists.

Babynama now offers plans starting at ₹499, with its Essential Care plan (₹1,999) granting access to 24/7 WhatsApp support and video consultations.

Their Holistic Care plan, priced at ₹3,999, remains a bestseller, providing a private group with dedicated paediatrician access, breastfeeding, and nutrition support.

Beyond paid plans, Babynama has conducted free webinars attended by over two lakh parents, while their Instagram account has garnered more than 4.5 lakh followers.

With Babynama, Dr Sumitra aims to make paediatric care accessible, timely, and reassuring for parents, helping them make informed decisions.

In addition, it wants to avoid unnecessary hospital visits, ultimately ensuring a healthier start for children.
