Anmol the buffalo: The ₹23 crore wonder of India’s agricultural fair
India’s agricultural exhibitions often showcase extraordinary sights, but this year’s All-India Farmers’ Fair in Meerut featured a truly exceptional star.
It is a buffalo named Anmol from Haryana’s Sirsa, whose staggering value leaves onlookers in awe.
Costing an eye-popping ₹23 crore, Anmol is more expensive than expensive cars. It is especially expensive compared to two Rolls-Royce cars or even 15 Mercedes-Benz vehicles.
To put this into perspective, one could easily purchase 20 luxury homes in Noida for the same price.
Visitors from various districts are flocking to witness this colossal cattle.
This 8-year-old buffalo belongins to the Murrah breed.
It is not just famous for its build but also for its unique lifestyle.
Anmol’s owner, Jagat Singh, proudly shares that the buffalo consumes a lavish diet.
It includes 5 kg of milk, 4 kg of pomegranates, 30 bananas, 20 eggs, and a quarter kilogram of almonds daily.
Additionally, Anmol is treated with gulkand, fodder, and two daily baths followed by oil massages using mustard and almond oil.
The buffalo’s extraordinary value isn’t just in its size or diet. Anmol’s semen is in high demand, fetching ₹4-5 lakh each month.
A dedicated team collects and distributes the semen across regions.
This rare Murrah breed’s semen is prized for its superior genetics, and Jagat Singh earns a steady profit from the sales.
Despite spending ₹60,000 monthly on Anmol’s diet, Singh enjoys a lucrative return.
Anmol wasn’t the only star at the fair. Buffaloes Lakshmi and Rani, known for producing 30 litres of milk daily, also captured attention.
However, Anmol’s sheer size and value remained the major draw, with crowds gathering to take selfies and admire the buffalo.
The event, inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and State Minister Baldev Aulakh, showcased the power and potential of India’s agriculture and livestock industry.
