Women with low investment earning high

Women invest low and earn huge

Financial freedom is one of the essential things nowadays. That’s why the government and many NGOs help several people to achieve it. Shramik Mahila Vikas Sangh is one among them. This Trust helps underprivileged women and make them financially independent.

The Trust was formed by Indumaty Barve and her friends, Usha Manerikar, Jayashree Samant, and Shubhada Kothawale, to support women in need.

Shramik Mahila Vikas Sangh began its operations in 1991. Since then, it has been working for the welfare of women.

The Trust has empowered more than 300 poor women and single mothers in Mumbai. It provides a good platform for these women to utilize their culinary skills to earn a decent income.

The main reason for focusing on culinary skills is that the founders observed many women were good at cooking but could not earn money. Another important thing is that most of them lacked proper education; hence they could not get a job. That’s why the Trust took this initiative.

The Trust founders started a canteen on the school premises with an initial investment of ₹3,000. They identified many women who are good at culinary skills.

The canteen uses their skills and serves food to customers from low-income groups like drivers.

At present, the Trust has six outlets in different parts of the city. The current turnover of all these outlets is ₹3 crores.

Sumitra Shinge lost her husband at the age of 30 years. She had no financial support to raise her five-year-old son. At that time, Shramik Mahila Vikas Sangh helped her.

Many such women are working there and living a decent life by earning a good income. They have to look after various things like cooking, cleaning, bringing groceries from the market et.

The centre operates from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The food plate comes with rice, dal, two rotis, two types of curries, pickle, and papad, which costs ₹73.
