UP woman arranges free oxygen cylinders

As oxygen is one of the vital items in the treatment of COVID-19, many Good Samaritans in the country are helping COVID-19 patients.

This 26-year-old woman is one of them. Arshi from Uttar Pradesh is fondly called ‘cylinder waali bitiya’. She arranges oxygen cylinders for free to the patients who need them.

Arshi’s father, Mashoor, tested COVID-19 positive and recovered. Her father was put under home isolation. At that time, Arshi had to struggle to procure oxygen cylinders for her father. She contacted several people and even approached the officials for oxygen cylinders. However, she was told that patients in home isolation could not get oxygen cylinders. And if they need, her father had to be admitted to a hospital.

At last, a social work society from Uttrakhand helped her. Her father recovered soon. Then she realized the need for oxygen and the desperate condition of patients and their family members. She decided to help other patients who need oxygen.

Currently, Arshi and her two brothers on this mission to save as many lives as they can by providing lifesaving gas to patients in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

The young woman uses a scooter to deliver oxygen cylinders. So far, they provided 20 cylinders to COVID-19 patients.

Syed Naved, one of the residents, praised her efforts as Arshi provided three oxygen cylinders for his father. Tanveer Khan, Shahjahanpur district president of the Samajwadi Party, also appreciated her services during the pandemic without caring for her life. Besides, many neighbours also lauded her for her selfless services.

Meanwhile, authorities said that there was no shortage of oxygen cylinders in the state. S P Gautam, the Chief Medical Officer of Shahjahanpur, stated that oxygen cylinders were being supplied to hospitals. Besides, the cylinders were also provided to patients in home isolation.
