Serendipity Sculptures by Rumana Sinha Sehgal
Rumana Sinha Sehgal is an industrial engineering graduate from Hyderabad. She worked in Oracle and ADP, but resigned her job to look after her children. But now she designs serendipity sculptures for corporate school and hotels, and several other multinational companies. Her journey started from making toys with Thermocol for her children on their school anniversary. At first, she failed to make the toys in a bigger 3D size using Thermocol as they were breaking. Then, she made a raw material by adding plaster of paris and lightweight cloth to thermocol, and made a big elephant toy of 5 feet height with that. She kept an empty space in the head of elephant so that school children can keep their heads in that place and take photographs. The toy caught the attraction of many people and one of the corporate schools asked her to make a similar toy of six season theme. She made it with the help a carpenter and later established serendipity.
She designed many themes for multinational companies and schools according to their requests. She worked for several birthday and wedding anniversary orders. Later, she made light weight furniture with paper for several IT companies and recycled articles. Thus, she achieved the status of entrepreneur from home maker with her constant efforts. Now, 30 employees are working in this firm. Her products have a large market in Hyderabad followed by Mumbai.
