From barber to billionaire: The inspiring journey of Ramesh Babu
In a world dominated by business magnates, Ramesh Babu’s journey from a humble barber to a billionaire stands as a remarkable inspiration.
His rise to owning a car rental empire valued at ₹1,200 crore, with over 400 luxury vehicles, is a story of determination, grit, and smart business decisions.
Born in a small village in Karnataka, Ramesh Babu faced immense hardships early on.
After losing his father, he had to support his family at just 13, doing odd jobs like delivering newspapers and milk, while also running his father’s modest barber shop.
Despite these challenges, Ramesh was determined to continue his education, eventually earning a diploma in electronics.
However, it was his entrepreneurial spirit that propelled him into uncharted territory.
In 1993, Ramesh Babu took a bold step by purchasing a Maruti Omni van using his savings and financial support from his uncle.
This marked his entry into the car rental business in Bengaluru. Initially, Ramesh personally drove his van, and as business picked up, he slowly expanded his fleet. His hard work and business acumen began to pay off.
The turning point came in 2004, when he took a risk by purchasing a Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan, venturing into the luxury car rental market.
Targeting high-end clients such as celebrities and politicians, this move catapulted him to a leadership position in the industry.
Over the years, Ramesh Babu’s fleet grew to include prestigious brands, alongside more budget-friendly options to cater to a diverse clientele. Some popular brands include Royce, BMW, and Audi.
Ramesh Babu’s business, Ramesh Tours & Travels, now boasts one of the largest luxury car fleets in India.
His personal net worth is estimated at ₹1,200 crore, a testament to his determination and vision.
Ramesh Babu’s story serves as a powerful reminder that, with hard work and smart decisions, even the most humble beginnings can lead to extraordinary success.
