First woman IPS officer in Sikkim
On November 4, 28-year old Aparajita Rai made history, when she was appointed the first woman IPS officer in Sikkim.
Daughter of the late Gyanendra Rai and Roma Rai, Aparajita flew past the UPSC exams in 2011 as well as in 2012.
She was in the 358th rank in the UPSC exams of 2012 and was allocated the IPS cadre.

Aparajita won many prestigious trophies such as the 1958 Batch of the IPS officers’ Trophy for the best Lady Outdoor Probationer, Shri Umesh Chandra Trophy for Field Combat, the 55th Batch of Senior Course Officers Trophy for Best Turn Out, and West Bengal Govt Trophy for Bengali. She has an unbeatable record throughout her academic career.
Being a 2009 BA LLB (Hons) graduate from the West Bengal National University of Judicial Sciences, she got a gold medal in Jurisprudence and Public International Law.
Aparajita is now posted in Hoogly in West Bengal.
