Try these amazing AR apps
Augmented Reality (AR) merges Computer Generated Imagery with reality, bringing what was once a futuristic vision of science fiction to life.
The abundance of AR is spreading, due to the widespread use of smart devices and the decreasing costs of AR development.
In the technology world, AR is one of the hottest topics, and giant tech companies are beginning to take advantage of this new technology.
It has been implemented in games, utilities, marketing, and much more. Numerous apps have been released that make use of the potential of AR, and these are some of the best ones released thus far.
Ingress was a turning point in the utilization of AR in games. Released by Niantic Labs, Ingress used location-based AR to create an MMOG (Massively Multiplayer Online Game) in which two factions of players compete to capture portals, located at significant real-world places.
The game plays like a giant match of Capture the Flag, and the players never have to directly interact with one another.
Pokémon GO has been one of the most played games in the past couple years, combining the innovative technology of AR with the popularity of the Pokémon franchise.
The game shows Pokémon on the players’ screens in the same real-world location as the player and shows where nearby Pokémon is using a real-world map.
Other Pokémon facilities, such as Gyms and Centers, are also shown in the real world.
“Zombies, Run!” was one of the first games to utilize AR, released back in 2012. The app is an exercise game, in which the player must escape from a zombie apocalypse in an outpost named Abel Township.
The game was designed to make running a more engaging activity, utilizing interactive and fun gameplay to make users more eager to exercise.
Not only does the app have fun gameplay, but it also records the users’ health and fitness statistics, such as the distance and time spent running and the number of calories burned.
