LPG e-KYC: Act Now to Protect Your Benefits
Digital verification is becoming an important part of accessing government-linked household benefits.
For LPG consumers, Aadhaar-based biometric e-KYC is now a key requirement.
Consumers have until August 16 to complete the verification process. Indian Oil, Bharat Gas and HP Gas have urged customers to finish it without delay.
The move mainly affects consumers receiving subsidised domestic LPG benefits.
Missing the deadline could create problems for eligible households. Subsidy payments may be stopped for customers whose verification remains incomplete.
PM Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries could face a greater impact because they depend on subsidised LPG support.
Moreover, some consumers may have to purchase cylinders at applicable market or non-subsidised rates. In certain states, distributors may also restrict refill booking or delivery from August 17. However, missing the deadline does not mean the LPG connection will be permanently cancelled.
Consumers can restore applicable benefits after completing their e-KYC. Therefore, those who have not completed verification should act promptly.
The process can be completed online through the official apps of LPG providers. Indian Oil customers can use IndianOil ONE. Bharat Gas users can access Hello BPCL. HP Gas customers can use HP Pay.
Consumers also need the Aadhaar FaceRD application for face authentication. After logging into their provider’s app, they can select the e-KYC option. The process then guides them through Aadhaar-based facial verification.
However, technical problems may prevent some users from completing the process online. In that case, consumers can visit their nearest LPG distributor. They should carry their identification documents and LPG passbook. Staff can complete biometric verification using a suitable device.
There is also another convenient option during cylinder delivery. Delivery personnel can complete e-KYC using an official mobile application or portable biometric device.
Consumers should also check their verification status before repeating the process. If the Gas App shows “e-KYC Success”, the verification is already complete.
Thus, completing e-KYC promptly can help eligible consumers avoid disruptions. It can also ensure continued access to applicable LPG pricing and subsidy benefits.
