India Post offers various services
Gone are the days that the Indian postal department offers only mail services. Now, you can get different services at post offices.
India Post decided to offer numerous services to reach many people. You can check the list of services offered by India Post on its website.
Nowadays, many services are available online. Some of these services are filing income tax returns, submitting an application for a PAN card, booking for COVID-19 vaccination etc. Tech-savvy people can perform these tasks easily, but it will be difficult for those who are not familiar with the technology. In this context, India Post wants to offer these services through post offices to such people.
India Post set up Common Service Centres (CSC) in various parts of the country. These centres offer various third-party services also.
India Post on Twitter mentioned that CSC counters at the post office are offering ITR filing for citizens. Hence, citizens can avail it.
These service centres offer the following central government schemes: Pradhan Manthri Jan Arogya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Street Vendor’s Atma Nirbhar Nidhi Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyapari Maan-Dhan Yojana etc. Citizens can avail the above mentioned central government schemes through the CSCs of India Post.
Besides, the following services are offered by post offices: Appointment booking for COVID-19vaccination, Aadhaar card enrolment and Aadhaar card update, application for a passport, voter ID and PAN card, FASTag top-up, Life Certificate for pensioners, and payment of utility bills.
Earlier, the Ministry of communications said that Aadhaar cardholders could update their mobile numbers on their card at their doorsteps with the help of postmen. For this, India Post Payments Bank and UIDAI made an arrangement so that Aaddhaar cardholders can update their mobile numbers at their doorsteps easily.
