In 2017, there are many international events that India took part in it. Here is a list of some important international events in 2017.

  • New International Monitory Fund report states that Indian Economy is likely to surpass United Kingdom Economy in 2017. This is due to 20% drop in pound and Brexit. As a result, India will become sixth strongest country in the world.
  • India won 10 medals in 2017 Asian Wrestling Championship which was held in New Delhi.
  • India hosted the 2017 Asian Athletics Championship. The Championship is being conducted every two years. These games are held in Bhubaneshwar. Bhubaneswar is the third Indian city to host the Championship after Delhi and Pune.
  • GSAT-17 and GSAT-19E communications satellites have been launched by ISRO.
  • India won the final of 2017 SAFF under -15 championship and beat Nepal by 2-1. This is the international football competition for men.
  • India won the 2017 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup by beating Malaysia. This was held in Bangladesh.
  • Dangal become the first Indian film to collect more than 2000 crore rupees in all languages across the world.
  • The BWF Super Series of badminton was held in Denmark. It is the eleventh season of this series which was conducted in 2017. Srikant Kidambi won the Series of Men’s singles.
  • 2017 Hockey women’s Asia cup was held in Japan. India won the cup by beating China in final by 5-4 (1-1).
  • Manushi Chhillar won the title of miss world 2017. She is the 6th Miss World from India.

  • Indian cricket team won in the Twenty 20 International match which was held at New Delhi against New Zealand.
  • Saikhom Mirabai Chanu won gold medal in the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships that were held in United States. This female weightlifter achieved this in the 48 kg category. She had won silver medal in 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow.
