Teen innovator builds futuristic spokeless bike in Surat
Innovation often begins with solving everyday problems through simple ideas.
That spirit pushed a young engineering enthusiast from Surat to create a futuristic spokeless electric bike packed with advanced smart features.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Shivam later moved with his family to Surat in search of better opportunities.
However, his passion for innovation started early. During school days, he struggled daily while cycling over a steep bridge. Instead of accepting the difficulty, he decided to find a solution himself.
At just 15, Shivam used his pocket money to buy a small motor and basic components. He then converted his regular bicycle into an electric one during his first experiment.
According to him, the dream of building a self-running cycle had already taken shape during Class 9.
His interest in creating practical machines also influenced his education choices. He opted for a diploma course first because it offered more hands-on learning opportunities.
Later, he continued his studies through B.Tech while pursuing independent projects.
Financial independence remained another important goal. Therefore, Shivam started creating content on YouTube and social media platforms.
Initially, his parents doubted whether digital platforms could generate income. However, their perception changed after he received his first payment of ₹48,000.
Instead of spending the money elsewhere, he reinvested everything into tools, equipment and new experiments.
Without access to a professional workshop, Shivam created a small makeshift workspace in Surat.
Despite limited resources, he continued testing ideas and learning from repeated failures. He described those failed experiments as stepping stones that helped him innovate smarter.
His latest innovation, a spokeless electric bike, has now attracted widespread attention online.
The futuristic vehicle offers three riding modes, including normal riding, phone-controlled operation and a fully autonomous driverless mode.
Advanced sensors detect obstacles up to 12 feet away and automatically stop the bike if an object comes within three feet.
The bike also features live rider display cameras, GPS navigation, wireless charging and smartphone connectivity.
Additionally, its battery offers a range of nearly 220 kilometres in eco mode. Its hollow-wheel design further gives the vehicle a science-fiction-inspired appearance.
Following the viral success of the bike’s video, startups, universities and production houses reportedly expressed interest in Shivam’s innovation.
