NeoBolt revolutionising mobility for people with disabilities

For many people with disabilities, mobility is a daily challenge. Enter NeoBolt, an innovative wheelchair from Indian startup NeoMotion that is redefining independence.

Designed by IIT Madras alumni Siddharth Daga, Swostik Dash, and Ashish Sharma, NeoBolt combines a conventional wheelchair with electric mobility, enabling users to travel longer distances without strain.

The innovation of NeoBolt lies in its motorised design.

Unlike regular wheelchairs, NeoBolt can function as a self-propelled vehicle.

Its battery provides a range of 50 km on a single charge, allowing users to commute, work, or run errands independently.

The design is customised for Indian roads and daily requirements, ensuring stability, comfort, and safety.

Its lightweight frame and smooth controls make it easy to navigate, even in crowded or uneven areas.

NeoBolt has already transformed lives. Thousands of users now enjoy the freedom and mobility that were once difficult to achieve.

About 300 users have joined Zomato as delivery partners, while others work as IT professionals, tailors, or pursue other careers.

This wheelchair does not just provide mobility; it creates opportunities, independence, and confidence.

Priced at around ₹1 lakh, NeoBolt is made affordable through bank loans and corporate social responsibility (CSR) support from organisations like Hyundai MOBIS, SBI Cards, Indian Oil, and HDFC.

This approach ensures that the life-changing technology reaches those who need it most.

The development of NeoBolt involved collaboration with IIT Madras’ Centre for Battery Engineering and Electric Vehicles for its battery design, while manufacturing was handled by the startup Cygni.

The result is a reliable, durable wheelchair capable of meeting everyday challenges.

NeoBolt is more than just a wheelchair; it is a tool that restores dignity, independence, and mobility to people with disabilities.
