AI Robots transform Indian farming for a greener tomorrow
Bengaluru’s Jaisimha Rao is changing the game in Indian agriculture with AI-powered spot spray robots.
Developed by Niqo Robotics, these robots not only boost crop health but also tackle the environmental and health risks linked with traditional pesticide methods.
Traditionally, farmers in India faced health hazards and high costs from manual pesticide spraying.
Niqo Robotics, founded by Jaisimha Rao in 2015, stepped up in August 2023 with their AI-powered spot spray robots.
Operating in three simple steps – see, select, spray – these robots use advanced cameras to pinpoint plants and apply precise pesticide amounts. Thus, they aim to cut down on chemical use and optimise crop protection.
Already, 500 farmers in Maharashtra and Karnataka are benefiting, slashing pesticide and labour costs.
Leasing the robots at a nominal fee of ₹350 per acre, farmers are saving money while seeing healthier crops.
Many users are happy with this product saying that it saved their time as well the amount of the pesticide they use. Thus, it helps save their money as well.
The robots secure fields in just two hours, a massive time-saver compared to the entire day needed for manual spraying.
Although convincing farmers about selective spraying is a challenge, Niqo Robotics has covered over 1 lakh acres this year. The plan is to expand to more regions and crops soon.
Jaisimha Rao, the developer of the product says that it helps address key issues in Indian agriculture – labour shortages and resource efficiency.
Niqo Robotics’ innovations are not just improving farming but also reducing agriculture’s impact on the environment.
Since the journey has just begun, Jaisimha Rao says that his company is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what robots and automation can do for the society in future.
Niqo Robotics is on track to transform Indian agriculture, ushering in a more efficient and sustainable era.
