Born on October 2, 1869, Gandhiji is renowned for his non-violence and Satygraha in the freedom movement of India. Gandhi is considered the folk hero. Gandhiji led the mass in the freedom fighting. Lal Bahadur Shastri
Lal Bahadur Shastri was known for being the second prime minister of India. He was also born on October 2. So, on this day, remembering a great prime minister of this country is important. He was born in the year 1904. He was a leader of the Indian National Congress Party. On 19 October 1965, Shastri gave the seminal ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kishan’ (“Hail the soldier, Hail the farmer”) slogan at Urwa in Allahabad. This slogan became a national slogan. He passed away on 11 January 1966.
Swami Abhedananda
Swami Abhedananda was born in the year 1866. He was a direct disciple of the 19th century mystic Ramakrishna Paramahansa. He also founded the Ramakrishna Vedanta Math. He was sent to New York in 1897 in order to lead the Vedanta Society by Swami Vivekananda. There, he spread the message of Vedanta. He died on 8 September 1939.
Venkataramiah Sitaramiah
Also known as VeeCee, Sitaramiah was born in the year 1899. He is a Kannada-language writer. For his work he received the National Sahitya Akademi Award in 1973. At various colleges, he worked as a professor in Karnataka State. He died in 1983.
Persis Khambatta
Born in the year 1948, Persis Khambatta was an Indian model, actress, and author. She is best known for her role as Lieutenant Ilia in the 1979 feature film Star Trek: The Motion Picture. She also won the Femina Miss India contest in 1965. She passed away on 18 August 1998.
Prakash Amritraj
Prakash Amritraj was born in the year 1983. He is an Indian professional tennis player. He is also the son of famous former Indian tennis player Vijay Amritraj. In the past, he represented India in Davis Cup and other tournaments.
