Narendra Modi named ‘The second best leader’
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was placed in the Number 2 position in a list of 30 top performing world leaders. He was right behind Chinese president Xi Jinping. The list was formed by a Japanese market research firm. The list also took in consideration the confidence of citizens in their leaders.
This survey was conducted on more than 26,000 respondents. On a scale of one to ten, the Chinese president had a score of 7.5 and Narendra Modi had a score of 7.3. The results of the survey were conducted by Harvard Kennedy School’s Ash Centre for Democratic Governance and Innovation. They were analyzed by Anthony Saich, a China expert in that school.
When it came to confidence of the citizens in their leaders, Xi topped the list again. He scored 94.8 percent and 93.8 percent for the way domestic and international affairs are handled respectively. Narendra Modi scored 93.2 percent and 93.3 percent with domestic and international affairs. Russian president Putin came in third position with 86.2 per cent and 86 percent in this list.
Regarding Modi’s performance, Saich has stated that the possible reason why Modi was voted so high by citizens was that they had just elected him and they were probably still in the phase of him having won the election.
