India’s first e-waste eco-park in New Delhi

The Delhi government is going to set up an e-waste eco-park in Delhi. It will be the first such park in India. Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced the matter yesterday.

Deputy CM said that the Delhi government took the decision in the cabinet meeting, aiming to promote tourism and manage e-waste efficiently.

The increasing usage of electronic gazettes eventually increases e-waste. To manage it efficiently, the Delhi government decided to set up an e-waste eco-park in the national capital. This park is useful for effective handling of e-waste by recycling it. It will also help for remanufacturing work.

The eco-park is proposed to be built on 20 acres of land. It will be as per the guidelines of the Government of India. Nearly 2 lakh tonnes of e-waste is generated in Delhi each year, and the park will be useful for recycling it.

The Delhi government also decided to frame Delhi Film Policy 2022. This policy will help promote Delhi in a better way and strengthen its branding through films. The government allocates ₹50 crores as a film fund to support film producers. It aims to boost the economy by creating more jobs in the national capital.

The Delhi Film Policy 2022 has the following objectives: The policy aims to make Delhi a brand for a shooting location and to associate Delhiites with the policy. It also intends to create more jobs for people and make Delhi a hub for the production of both domestic and international films.

Besides, the policy intends to provide permissions in 15 days. A single-window method is used for granting permissions. Currently, permissions from different departments are essential for shooting at different locations. In addition to that, a subsidy of up to ₹3 crores for a film produced in Delhi will be given.
