To promote tourism and make tourist destinations risk-free for tourists, the Kerala government is administering vaccines to people fast, especially in all tourist places.

As tourists prefer safe and risk-free places to visit, the government initiated a vaccination campaign for turning all tourist places across the state risk-free for them. These destinations include hill stations, backwater hubs, and seaside holiday spots in Wayanad, Munnar, Alappuzha, Kovalam, Kumarakom, Fort Kochi, and Varkala.

Besides, all cultural and heritage and cultural tourism centres were also picked up for this campaign.

The government initiated the campaign to promote the tourism sector and receive more visitors after the effect of the pandemic reduces.

As the vaccination is progressing in all these places, Vythiri in Wayanad district became the first fully vaccinated tourist destination in Kerala.

Vythiri is located 700 metres above sea level. Hence, it is cooler than many other areas of Wayanad.  It is a small town located 60 km from Kozhikode.

The entire population of this town inoculated from July 13 to 17 in a vaccination drive. All service providers like tour guides, employees of hotels, resorts, traders in tourism centres, and taxi and autorickshaw drivers also get vaccinated in this mass vaccination drive.

In addition to the government, the Tourist department, local communities, and employee forums were involved actively in the vaccination drive. Doctors and paramedical staff of Vythiri Taluk conducted the vaccination drive. That’s why the entire population in Vythri received vaccines, which made it become the first fully vaccinated tourist centre in the state. The state government also chose mission mode vaccination for these tourist destinations.

Wayanad is renowned for its pleasant climate and picturesque views. It is one of the major tourist destinations in South India.

The state government wants to develop Wayanad as a major hub for adventure tourism and leisure activities.
