8th International Yoga Day | Fusion - WeRIndia

On the occasion of the eighth International Yoga Day, the government decided to make the celebrations a gala affair.

The pandemic affected all celebrations for the last two years. That’s why the government decided to celebrate International Yoga Day grandly.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a yoga event at Mysuru Palace Ground in Mysuru, Karnataka. More than 15,000 people joined the event and performed yoga.

India is celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. As part of these celebrations, 75 Union ministers performed yoga at 75 historical and cultural sites across the country.

In addition to that, the BJP decided to organise yoga sessions at 75,000 places in different parts of the country.

The theme of this year’s yoga day is ‘Yoga for Humanity’. The PMO said that yoga helped relieve people’s health issues during the pandemic.

One of the main attractions of the yoga day celebrations is the ‘Guardian Yoga Ring’. It is a joint exercise between 79 countries and United Nations organisations. Indian Missions, with the support of Embassies in various countries, ensure the coordination of the programme.

People from all countries celebrate the movement of the Sun. They welcome the Sun with Yoga. The Mass Yoga Demonstrations will be streamed live as the Sun rises and moves from the east to the west, at different zones.

As the Sun moves from the east to the west, the yoga performances can be seen in all participating countries. Since they will be seen in all countries, one after the other country, it highlights the concept of One Sun, One earth. Thus, they appear like a ring.

The DD India live telecasts the Guardian Yoga Ring programme. The programme starts from Fiji in the east and moves to the west. It will end in San Francisco.
