SBI Alert: Plan Bank Work Before 3-Day Strike

Customers may face temporary banking disruptions when employee participation affects branch operations across the country.

State Bank of India (SBI) has advised customers to complete important branch-related transactions in advance of a proposed nationwide bank alternative banking channels for routine needs during the strike.

ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines can help with cash withdrawals and deposits.

Customer Service Points may also strike. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has called the strike from September 28 to 30, 2026.

SBI said it is taking steps to keep essential banking services available during the strike. However, branch operations could remain limited depending on employee participation in different locations.

Therefore, customers who need services involving physical visits, staff assistance or document verification should plan ahead.

Physical documentation, certain cheque-related services and other branch-dependent transactions could face delays.

Customers can use alternative banking channels for routine needs during the strike. ATMs and Automated Deposit and Withdrawal Machines can help with cash withdrawals and deposits. Customer Service Points may also provide select banking services.

Meanwhile, SBI’s digital channels are expected to support regular transactions. Customers can use internet26 and 27 fall on a weekend.

Consequently, the proposed strike from September 28 to 30 could result in five consecutive days without normal banking, mobile banking, YONO and UPI for fund transfers, payments and other everyday banking requirements.

However, digital platforms cannot replace every branch service. Customers needing physical documentation or other in-person assistance may need to complete those tasks before the strike.

The timing could also create a longer disruption for some customers. September 26 and 27 fall on a weekend.

Consequently, the proposed strike from September 28 to 30 could result in five consecutive days without normal weekday branch access.

SBI has therefore urged customers to use digital and self-service channels wherever possible. Those with pending branch work should consider completing it before the proposed strike begins.
