PM unveils 30-feet bronze statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled the statue of Alluri Sitarama Raju, a legendary freedom fighter in Andhra Pradesh.

As part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of remarkable freedom fighter Alluri Sitarama Raju, the statue has been unveiled by PM Modi.

Modi unveiled this 30-feet tall bronze statue in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. Alluri Sitarama Raju was well-known for his fight against the British. He led the Rampa rebellion, which was a tribal uprising in 1922.

Referred to as Manyam Veerudu, Sitarama Raju worked for the welfare of the tribal communities.


The Andhra Pradesh government decided to continue the celebrations of his birth anniversary for a year. It has planned many initiatives.

It is decided to restore the birthplace of Sitarama Raju at Pandrangi in Vizianagaram, and Chintapalli Police Station to mark 100 years of the Rampa Rebellion. Sitarama Raju started his attacks with this police station.

Besides, the state government also approved the construction of the Alluri Dhyana Mandir at Mogallu. A statue of Sitarama Raju in Dhyana Mudra will be erected there. The Mandir will also portray his story. For this, an AI-enabled interactive system will be used. There will also be a few mural paintings.

PM Modi will visit Gujarat today evening to inaugurate the Digital India Week 2022 in Gandhinagar. The theme of the programme is Catalysing New India’s Techade.

The programme aims to improve the accessibility of technology to ease the lives of people and boost the growth of startups. Modi will launch many digital initiatives as part of this programme.

He will launch Digital India Bhashini and Digital India GENESIS. The Digital India Bhashini will help provide easy access to digital services in Indian languages.

Digital India GENESIS will provide support for innovative startups. The estimated budget for the scheme is ₹750 crores.
