PM Narendra Modi announces Rs. 1,000 Crore to fight against crisis in Jammu and Kashmir Floods
The deaths in Jammu and Kashmir floods reached nearly 150 on Sunday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced Rs. 1000 crore to assist the state and fight against the crisis after estimating the extent of devastation from air. The floods are described as the worst national calamity that hit the country in 50 years.
This money will help the state in flood relief and rehabilitation. If needed, more assistance would be provided. Over 15,000 people were rescued by the Army by Sunday evening with at least 2,000 people getting shelter and thousands receiving food and first aid.Government has set up many control rooms for rescue and relief operations.
