PM announces new National Award

To promote National Unity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced to institute a new National Award on the pattern of Padma Award.

An official statement has revealed this matter. Drawing inspiration from Sardar Patel who contributed for unification of the county, the establishment of new award has been announced.

The new National Award which would be given annually to those who has contributed to the national unity in any manner.

The announcement was made at the annual conference of Director Generals of Police and Inspector Generals of Police held in Gujarat.

The conference was held near the Statue of Unity. Statue of Unity, the statue of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel had been inaugurated in Gujarat by the Prime Minister in the month of October on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, the first home minister of India.

The statement said it was Patel who had inaugurated the first conference of Inspector Generals of Police in Delhi in 1948.

His efforts for the unification of the country are remarkable; hence his message is the basic theme of this year’s conference.

Considering this, the institution of a new award proposal has been made by the Prime Minister.

PM Modi also released a commemorative postal stamp on the National Police Memorial at this conference.

In addition to the announcement of award, the PM also suggested to organize a national level parade by the police forces near the Statue of Unity on National Unity Day.

October 31, the birthday of Patel is being observed as National Unity Day in the country.

The PM also launched a website for all cyber related issues including cybercrimes and security. It is the website of the Cyber Coordination Centre which would act as a bridge between law enforcement agencies and private cyber security professionals.
