Open-roof luxury bus launched in Jammu & Kashmir | Fusion - WeRIndia

World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27 each year.

As part of the World Tourism Day celebrations, the authorities of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department launched open-roof tourist luxury bus service.

This first-of-its-kind open-roof bus service was launched as part of the border tourism initiative.

To mark the 41st World Tourism Day, tourism authorities flagged off the Garud Seva Open-Roof bus service with the slogan ‘Chalo Suchetgarh Border’.

The celebrations were taken place at various tourist places across Jammu and Kashmir adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Some such places are Bhimgarh Fort, Basholi, Katra, Kishtwar, Mansar, Poonch, and Reasi.

Several stakeholders like travel organizations, taxi unions, and hotels associations participated in the celebrations.

The main event was conducted at Suchetgarh border with the support of senior officers of the 36 battalion of the BSF.

The Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir organized an event at Nehru Park in Srinagar. Many activities like kayaking, shikara race, and canoeing were conducted.

Sarmad Hafeez, the Secretary of Youth Services and Sports and Tourism presided over the gathering. He said that the department will promote the tourism sector.

There are many pilgrimage centres and tourist destinations in Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir is well-known for its beauty. It is also known as Switzerland of Asia.

Each year, several domestic, as well as international tourists, visit this place.

Now, COVID-19 affected the tourism industry. However, the number of tourists who visit this place is likely to improve with time. And the new move is expected to attract more tourists.

To promote tourism on the border and to help tourists, the open-roof luxury bus will operate daily from Jammu at around 10:30 a.m. towards the Suchetgarh border. Tourists can avail this service for sightseeing of the picturesque views.
