Now passengers can book bus services on IRCTC portal | Fusion - WeRIndia

Good news to Railways passengers as they can book bus services on the IRCTC portal itself.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) launched an online bus booking service. While the services went live on January 29, the IRCTC announced it on February 5.

For this service, the IRCTC tied up with over 50,000 state road government corporations and private bus operators across 22 states and three union territories.

To book a bus service, passengers should visit the IRCTC portal and choose a bus from the available buses on the portal after selecting their departure and arrival details.

Besides, they can check amenities, ratings and reviews, pick up and drop locations while choosing a bus service. They can also get discounts for booking tickets on this portal.

At present, the service is available on the website of IRCTC. Soon, the service will be integrated on the mobile application also. The process is expected to be finished by the first week of March, which would ease booking.

Though many private portals offer the booking for different transport modes on their portals, IRCTC is the first government portal to offer such services.

In its statement, the IRCTC said that by offering a booking service for various modes of transport, it became the government’s first one-stop-shop travel portal in the country.

The statement also said by launching an online bus booking service on its portal, it intends to provide a complete travel experience to the customers. Passengers have already the facility of booking tickets for trains as well flights on the IRCTC portal. Now, with the launching of booking for bus services, passengers can book all types of transportation on this portal. That means all at one single stop.
