Five Kolkata-bound flights were also diverted Monday evening owing to bad weather in the city.

A representative of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) said that though the technical problem did not affect the arrival of flights to Kolkata, the bad weather including thunderstorms and subsequent rain affected it.

He said that a Singapore Airline flight was diverted to Dhaka while three others were diverted to Bhubaneswar, and one was diverted to Lucknow.

The AAI owns and manages more than 100 airports. The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International (NSCBI) Airport in Kolkata is one among them.

A technical problem was detected in the local area network (LAN) of NSCBI Airport on Monday evening. It hindered the check-in process of the passengers.

As boarding passes were issued manually to the passengers, each flight was delayed at least 20 minutes. Nearly 30 flights were delayed due to this and started late from the airport on Monday.
