MBA in tourism to be offered by Government

The Indian Institute of tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), an autonomous establishment below the Ministry of tourism, has been chosen to supply a full-fledged MBA course in tourism, in partnership with the Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU). A MoU to the current impact was signed between IITTM and IGNTU (which comes under the HRD Ministry) in Delhi recently.

An official from the Tourism Ministry has stated that the course will open up a candidate’s job prospects in travel agencies, hotels, airlines, transport and cargo companies, and even government tourism departments.

After this, there are plans to set up a National Tourism University in Nodia which happens to be the parliamentary constituency of Tourism and Culture Minister, Mahesh Sharma. IITTM is one of the biggest institutes of India and it has been offering education, training, research and consultancy in tourism and travel fields. The institute was established in Delhi in 1983 and it has now opened five campuses so far -at Gwalior, Noida, Bhubneshwar, Nellor and Goa.

The institute offers post-graduate diploma courses in Tourism, Leisure, International Business and Cargo. This new MBA (Tourism) program will replace the previous PGDKM course. The course commencement dates and fee structure are still being finalized soon according to the ministry.
