Massive fire breaks out in Delhi

A major fire broke out in Central Delhi in Anaj Mandi area on Sunday early morning. As many as 43 people died in this tragic incident and 50 people were wounded.

Several people were brought to the hospital after their death. The situation was chaotic as many relatives of the people and locals were rushed to the area. It was very difficult for them to locate their kith and kin.

In this regard, the Delhi police detained the building owner Rehan under IPC sections 304 and 285. This factory building is operated from the residential area.

BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), the power distribution company claimed that the fire broke out due to some internal problem of the building.

A team of BYPL rushed to the spot to discontinue the electric supply. The fire occurred on the second and third floors of the factory building. It is a four-storey building.

The incident happened at 5:22 a.m. A team of 30 fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately to save the lives of people.

The officials of the fire department said that they received a call early in the morning about the fire but no information was given on trapping of people in the burning building. This miscommunication delayed the rescue operations.

More than 150 officials were in rescue operations. They managed to pull out 63 people from the burning building.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced compensation of ₹10 lakhs to the families of the people who died in this fire accident. The injured people will get a compensation of ₹1 lakh. Their medical treatment would be borne by the government.

The CM also ordered a magisterial probe into the incident. He said that the rescue operations were going on and firemen were doing their duty at their best.
