IT Department warns to beware of fake messages
As digital transactions are increasing in the country, so do the cybercrimes. To get the personal details of the common public, fraudsters are using several ways to dupe them.
They are searching for new ways to steal personal data and money from them.
Recently, fraudsters are sending fake emails and messages to people stating that they have won a lottery.
Since the winning amount is significant, several people are attracted to those fake messages. Many of them are sharing their personal details.
As several fraudulent messages have been circulated on social media in the name of the Income Tax Department, it warned the income taxpayers to beware of such messages.
Some other fraudsters are asking to send money to process the prize money. Thus, they are duping people. PIB Fact Check cautioned against such fraudulent and fake messages in this context.
Since the messages are circulating under the name of the IT department, many taxpayers believe them and share their personal details, which fraudsters may misuse.
In this context, the IT department warned the citizens to beware of such messages. In recent days, many fake messages and emails have been circulated claiming that the recipients won a lottery. They are asking to share the personal details of recipients.
Lottery scams are circulating on social media in the name of the IT department. However, Income Tax India is not running any lucky draw.
Earlier also, the IT department warned the public to beware of fraudulent job offers and asked them not to fall prey.
It also asked them to consider advertisements or offers posted on the official websites of the department.
The Income Tax department, through its Twitter handle, cautioned against fraudulent messages and not to fall prey to fake offers and appointment letters.
