Government updates self-declaration form airplane passengers | Fusion - WeRIndia

As COVID-19 recovery improves in the country, the government updated the self-declaration rule for airplane passengers. The Civil Aviation Ministry has told the airlines about the update.

In the wake of COVID-19, the government made it mandatory for all airline passengers to submit a self-declaration form to airlines stating that they have not tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier, it was two months before the departure date. Passengers had to declare that they did not test positive for COVID-19 during two months prior to the flight departure date to travel.

But, now, the time has reduced to three weeks. That means passengers have to submit a self-declaration form that they have not tested positive for COVID-19 during the three weeks before the departure date.

Passengers who submit the declaration form will only be allowed for the journey.

Since recovery in the country is improving, the government feels a need to update the form to three weeks from two months.

People who have recovered from COVID-19 will have to show a COVID-19 recovery or COVID-discharge certificate from the hospital. However, they have to fulfill the criteria of three weeks prior to the departure of the flight.

So far, nearly 8.2 lakh people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country.

Out of them, 5.15 lakh people have recovered, i.e. 63 percent of people has recovered. Over 22,000 people died due to COVID-19.

India resumed domestic flights for passengers from May 25 after a gap of two months due to nationwide lockdown. While resuming flights, the government made it mandatory for the passengers to submit a self-declaration form.
