Government launches helpline for Coronavirus

As coronavirus outbreaks across the globe and a few suspects are in the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) launched a helpline number to help people round the clock.

The helpline number is +911123978046. Anyone can call the number to get details of the District and State Surveillance Officers.

The callers can be connected with the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) for clinical enquiries.

The ministry also urged passengers who travelled in this month to self-report to the call centre if they experience any symptoms of fever, cough and respiratory issues.

On top of that, the Indian embassy in China opened three hotlines to solve issues of those affected by the condition.

So far, none of the citizens in the country has been confirmed with the coronavirus. However, a few suspects across the county created panic among citizens.

Indians who flew down recently from China have been kept under observation in the country.

As per sources, nearly 450 people who may have probable exposure to coronavirus have been put under observation.

Some people voluntarily consulted physicians as a precautionary measure.

In Nepal, there is a confirmed case of coronavirus. In this context, the Ministry advised authorities of West Bengal to keep a watch at Panitanki entry point of Nepal.

Coronavirus mainly causes respiratory infections. Though coronavirus is not deadly, it poses a threat to people who are infected with it. In some cases, it may lead to pneumonia and kidney failure which ultimately lead to death.

The authorities of China announced that around 4,515 people have been confirmed with the infection of the novel coronavirus. The death toll reached 106 due to this virus.
