Huge discounts on digital transactions - Fusion - WeRIndia

Good news to all who are using or going to turn to digital transactions.

The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley yesterday revealed a slew of measures to boost digital transactions and to lower the use of cash in country.

The Central government exempted card transactions below ₹2,000 from service tax.

He announced 0.75 per cent discount on purchase of petrol and diesel when paid in digital mode i.e. paid with debit or credit cards, e-wallets and mobile wallets.

That means a discount of 49 paise per litre of petrol and 41 paise per litre of diesel which are sold at ₹66.10 and ₹54.57 in Delhi at present.

Similarly, 0.5 per cent discount is announced on monthly season tickets in suburban railways on digital payments effective from the New Year.

Mumbai suburban railways will be the first government department which will implement the notification of government.

The Finance Minister also said the railway passengers who book their railway tickets online will get accidental insurance cover of up to ₹10 lakh.

Discount of 5 per cent is provided for services of affiliates of Railways like catering, accommodation, retiring room on digital mode of payments.

Arun Jaitley stated that NABARD will provide RuPay cards to the villagers who have Kisan cards.

Every village with a population of up to 10 lakh will be provided a two point-of-sale machines. 1 lakh villages will be chosen for this scheme.

All those who buy new policy or pay premium online via PSUs websites will be provided 10 per cent and 8 per cent discount for general and life insurance.

Furthermore, consumers will be assured that they would not be charged extra for digital payments.

Also 10 per cent discount will be offered on payment made using RFID or Fast Tags for the highway Toll Plazas.
