Delhi airport launches excess baggage delivery service
To help domestic and international airline passengers, the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) launched an excess baggage home delivery service.
The home delivery service, Avaan Excess baggage delivery service, helps passengers to get their baggage delivered to their homes or any other location across the country. The DIAL says that the service is available to passengers at an affordable price.
Chennai and Mumbai airports started this service in 2020. Now Delhi airport also launched the facility.
The Avaan Excess baggage delivery service can be availed by passengers at Indira Gandhi International Airport’s Terminal 3. Baggage can be delivered by air or road. Passengers can choose between the two options while booking the delivery service at the counter.
Baggage will be delivered within 72 hours by air. It will take four to seven days to be delivered by road. Baggage will be insured by the concessionaire for their safety.
DIAL is partnered with Avaan Excess for this service. The cost of delivery varies with the mode of transport used for the delivery of baggage. If the delivery is done by road, then the cost will be ₹101 per kg up to 7 kg and ₹67 per kg up to 15 kg. The delivery by air is expensive. It is ₹236 per kg up to 7 kg and ₹183 per kg up to 15 kg.
DIAL CEO Videh Jaipuriar said that the service aimed to provide a stress-free journey to passengers. It would help passengers in getting hassle-free flying during the pandemic time. Especially senior citizens and passengers with huge luggage or those shifting from one place to another place can benefit from this service. They need not wait in long-standing queues for baggage check-in and its pick up at airports. This service eases their travelling.
